Quadrant Sound System – a bunch of party folk born out of Rave culture and the Midlands free party scene. The Quadrant crew hit the scene in 1995, putting on parties in and around Notts. A coming together, of like minds. & great friendships. We started out in the Summer of 1996, built a 10k rig in the living room, & took on the baton to push the underground house scene to a warehouse, club & wherever we could… By 97/98 we were packing clubs with our legendary Rebound parties, & a year later we headed to Prague, Czech Republic with our infamous fire engine (our sound system crew mobile) and many boxes of records!
In conjunction, from this, forging long lasting friendships over the years with the Smokescreen Soundsystem crew, DiY, Ultrasound & Babble, (fellow midlands creatives & party people), over the next few decades.
Chris and Rich continued to put on parties in the UK too, and spent the initial part of the 2000’s linking up with the London scene, building long lasting friendships with DJ’s and promoters – Wiggle, Eukatech and Swag Records – getting influenced by the sounds from the capital.
In the years following, Chris continued to tour and release music with various labels, and Rich launched the Connect4Music/CForm label, with both regularly hosting radio shows on Notts based online radio station ‘MyHouseYourHouse’, & more recently on Bloop Radio, & Deep Vibes Radio, additionally over recent years, also on Lockdown FM.
With a little bit of a break, the Quadrant name was back with a bang in 2021! when we celebrated our 25th anniversary in Nottingham. Then continuing the celebrations in the Czech Republic during the summer of ‘22! … From the success of this, it has become a yearly event for April in Czech, with the Quadrant – Rebound event weekend! & Also, hosting our small little festival in Semily – CZ, every other year! All being proper highlights in the calendar! Amongst all that, we’ve teamed up with Smokescreen (at Hidden Warehouse), over the last 2 years as their headline guests, & were invited to dj for their birthday camp out in 2023. Additionally recently, we’ve DJ’d at Ultrasound events, Duvet Vous in Bristol, Gallery Sounds, Movers in Nottingham, & also our own QuadAntics event this Nov. (Amongst other parties). All of which absolutely went off!
Adding to that, there’s been performances at the Beatherder Festival, Moovin Festival & Equinox over the last few years. & then right down to our smaller events back in Nottingham at The Bodega & The Angel, (where we play more of an eclectic vibe – Hip Hop, Disco, soul, funk, proto house, alt/left field, punk, new wave, electronic)
